State Representative Kevin Schmidt has pledged to donate the legislative pay raise he voted against to different local community outreach efforts in his community. This month, he has chosen St. John’s UCC Church Food Pantry in New Athens.
He delivered the food today and released the following statement: “Today, I did my monthly donation of food in the amount of my personal salary increase, to the St John’s UCC church food pantry in New Athens. I voted no for my pay increases, so I donate it back every month to different outreach efforts in my district. We also did a food drive all across New Athens and added those items to the donation. It was a large enough donation that the pantry director said it was the best the pantry has looked in a long time!”
While there, Rep. Schmidt also did an impromptu Q&A and book reading with the kids at the church daycare.
Rep. Schmidt proudly serves the people of the 114th District.
