State Rep. Kevin Schmidt Supports Illinois Veterans
My bill to appreciate military service that passed through the General Assembly, is now waiting on Governor’s desk to be signed into law. House Bill 4385 expands access to military license plates as a small but meaningful way to recognize those who have served our country.
This legislation allows veterans and service members who already have military plates to obtain a second identical set for another vehicle without unnecessary hurdles. It’s a simple and practical way to show our appreciation and make things a little easier for those who have sacrificed so much for our country.
I’m proud of this bill and look forward to it being signed by the Governor.

Upcoming Events in the 114th District
ICASH Event
The Illinois State Treasurer’s Office is hosting an ICASH Event on Monday, July 20 at the Cahokia Fitness & Sports Complex. I encourage my constituents to attend and check if they are owed unclaimed money or property. Representatives from the Treasurer’s Office are on-site to help individuals search their database and correctly fill out claim forms to collect money or property owed to them.
ICASH events help residents across Illinois locate and reclaim unclaimed property. Since 2015, more than $2 billion in assets have been returned to Illinoisans. Unclaimed property can include everything from forgotten bank accounts and uncashed checks to insurance payments, stocks, and even the contents of safe deposit boxes.
Mobile Office Hours
My Mobile Office Hours Events are open to the public and provide my constituents with the opportunity to have in-person conversations with me about their concerns over state issues and to learn more about constituent services my office has to offer.
FREE CPR Certification
Learn the skills needed to respond assertively in an emergency. Attendees will receive hands-on training from Carissa Heise, a certified instructor, and earn CPR certification upon successful completion of the course.
Whether you’re a parent, teacher, coach, healthcare worker, or simply want to be prepared, this training is an invaluable opportunity to obtain life-saving skills.
Millstadt America 250 Celebration
The Village of Millstadt is celebrating America’s 250th Birthday with a major community event on July 29 & 30, headlined by the “Freedom 250 Truck” mobile museum. This special event will feature the Freedom 250 Truck, food trucks, art vendors, daily activities and more!
I encourage my constituents to attend this special event and come together to continue the celebrations of our great nation!

Dupo Chamber of Commerce Meeting

The Governor signed 31 new bills into law last week including a bill to conform the state’s property tax laws to the 2023 Tyler v. Hennepin County U.S. Supreme Court decision….read more.
