My priorities are to protect the taxpayers of Illinois and support legislation that lowers taxes, creates opportunities, and puts Illinois citizens first. Unfortunately, the largest budget in state history was passed in the dead of night and shifts $800 million of increased taxes on families and businesses who are already working harder than ever just to get by.
I stand by my no vote on the budget because the people of Illinois deserve better, and they deserve an honest government. This budget does not represent fiscal responsibility, transparency, or affordability.
House Democrats on the other hand, have declared victory on “affordability” after passing $800 million in new tax hikes at 4:00 a.m. Illinois families are being crushed by some of the highest taxes in the nation and Democrats’ version of affordability means higher taxes, more spending, and bigger government.
Governor Pritzker had this to say:
“We made all of those people-first investments while maintaining our positive fiscal trajectory and protecting working families from paying new taxes,” Pritzker said.
As your State Representative, I will keep supporting legislation that lowers costs for working families, keeps Illinois competitive, grows our economy, and cuts government waste. This budget did not accomplish those goals.

Rather than getting their excessive spending under control, Democrats opted to take from funds that are intended to support infrastructure across the state. This is not responsible budgeting.
Democrats are so desperate for new things to tax they’ve resorted to copying failed ideas from the Mayor of Chicago. Democrats’ $200 million social media tax is just another cost that will ultimately be passed onto consumers.
