In the District

I was in Freeburg and met with the Freeburg Library Director, Kristin Green to talk about the Public Library Per Capita Grant . The library received $8,939.98 in grants to be used for new books and their summer reading program. The Freeburg Area Library District helps families with providing great kid activities at low costs.

I also met with library director Jenna Dauer from Smithton Public Library District to talk about the Illinois Secretary of State’s office awarding nearly $20 million in grant funding to hundreds of libraries across the state. The Smithton library received $7,706.88 which will be used for programming.

A popular program this library offers is “Read 1000 Books Before Kindergarten”.

They also offer a story walk at the park where participants can reserve the story walk to showcase a book you read around the lake as you walk.

“Chicago Is Fine”?

When asked about public safety, Governor Pritzker stated that “Chicago is fine.” Those words came just hours after a bloody Labor Day weekend that left over 50 people shot across the city, 8 of whom did not survive.
