Working for Illinois Families, not politicians.

We must do more to help Illinois residents keep more money in their pockets. I’m focused on lowering the cost of living by supporting legislation that will help alleviate some of the rising costs we are seeing across the state.

Cahokia Heights, IL…State Representative Kevin Schmidt (R-Millstadt) is highlighting a new law he helped pass that reduces prescription drug costs, increases accountability for pharmacy middlemen, known as pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), and delivers vital support to both rural and medically underserved pharmacies across the 114th District.
Representative Kevin Schmidt was Co-Sponsor and helped pass the Prescription Drug Affordability Act (Public Act 104-0027), which puts patients first by addressing anti-competitive practices used by PBMs. The law will help reduce prescription drug costs for Illinois families while strengthening and protecting locally owned pharmacies—Read the full press release.
“Illinois residents in rural and medically underserved communities in my district depend on local pharmacies for healthcare services,” said Schmidt. “This new law holds pharmacy middlemen accountable and raises funds for grants to help pharmacies stay open and continue serving patients.”
Upcoming Events in District 114!

Great Opportunity to Speak with Rep. Schmidt In-Person!
I will be hosting Mobile Office Hours on July 7 & July 9 and want you to join! Mobile Office Hours are open to the public and provide my constituents with the opportunity to discuss issues concerning a State of Illinois agency. Walk-ins are accepted!
I look forward to meeting with constituents and hearing about what matters most to them. These conversations help me better represent our communities at the Capitol and advocate for our priorities.

I’m hosting a free shred event and canned food drive on July 11 and encouraging my constituents to attend and bring non-perishable food items for a local pantry. The upcoming shred event offers a safe, secure, and convenient way to dispose of personal documents.
Shredding documents that contain personal information gives people peace of mind and helps protect against identity theft. I encourage everyone to attend this free event and take advantage of the on-site shred truck.
Monthly Food Pantry Donation

My latest pantry donation was provided to the TWIGS Program, which will distribute food to children who need it the most. Through July 29, kids under the age of 18 can pick-up a free lunch between 11:30 a.m. and noon on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday at these locations:
Dupo Village Park
North Dupo Fire Department
Dupo HS Cafeteria
“MOM’S ON A MISSION” Bldg. McBride Ave.
East Carondelet Community Bldg.
Huffman School 600 St. Robert Dr. Cahokia
Village of Dupo
The Village of Dupo is eager to find volunteer firefighters to join their team!
