Schmidt’s Spotlight: Working to Protect Taxpayers

Illinois Democrats’ Latest Tax Hike Proposal Fails to Advance

House Republicans stood united against Illinois Democrats’ latest income tax hike proposal that would have opened the door to even more tax increases on Illinois families and job creators.

Continued tax hikes without spending reform will never solve Illinois’ fiscal problems. Our residents need relief now from the burdens of fiscal mismanagement by the Pritzker administration.

House Joint Resolution Constitutional Amendment 21 would amend the Illinois Constitution to impose an additional 3% income tax on income over $1 million. Democrats claim the revenue would be split, with 50% going to property tax relief and 50% to school funding…continue reading.

Rep. Schmidt Donates Pay Raise to Mascoutah Food Pantry & Concerned Christians

Mascoutah, IL…
State Representative Kevin Schmidt (R-Millstadt) has pledged to donate the legislative pay raise he voted against to local organizations across the 114th District to help families in need. For the month of April, he donated essential food items, including sugar, brown sugar, cooking oil, and egg noodles, to the Mascoutah Food Pantry & Concerned Christians.

“Helping the community is a priority of mine, and I’m proud to support local food pantries that serve families in need,” said Schmidt. “When communities come together to support one another, it makes a real difference.”

The Mascoutah Food Pantry is operated by Concerned Christians, a coalition of local churches that work together to provide food assistance and emergency services to families in Mascoutah and the surrounding area.

The pantry is located at 17 West Main Street in Mascoutah and offers a convenient drop-off box on the north side of the building for donations.

Back The Badge and Repeal the SAFE-T Act

House Republicans have long warned about the SAFE-T Act, and the consequences are becoming deadly. The latest example is the Chicago police officer who was killed by a dangerous criminal. We cannot ignore this crisis any longer.
