Rep. Kevin Schmidt Names Personal Touch Boutique for His “Business of the Month”
East St. Louis, IL…After receiving submissions from across the 114th District, State Representative Kevin Schmidt (R-Millstadt) was selected Personal Touch Boutique to be his “Business of the Month” for November. Rep. Schmidt presented the owners Bernita and Derrick Maxwell with an official certificate in recognition for their contributions to the community.
“Bernita and Derrick are not just business owners, but role models for youth in the community,” said Schmidt. “Their business has grown over the years, and they continue to be a staple in East St. Louis for men’s clothing and accessories. Their passion for helping others is a light for the community and they are always working hard to instill their values in and outside their business.”
Derrick’s retail journey started in 1988, when he started selling merchandise out of the trunk of his car. In 1994, his persistence paid off, and he opened a brick and mortar store on State Street, where it still stands today.
