VETO SESSION
Veto Session is wrapped up for this week in Springfield. Not much of anything was accomplished, other than blaming President Trump for Illinois’ problems. We must find better ways to use our time at the Capitol that benefits our constituents.
Hopefully we can return on October 28th and find solutions to lower the cost of living for Illinois families.

Illinois’ Energy Plan
As Illinois families struggle to pay their electric bills, Democrats are expected to drop an Energy Omnibus bill (Senate Bill 25) that would drive energy rates up even higher! Under the guise of “green energy,” Illinoisans will see higher rates, less production, and a less reliable energy supply. With baseload generation gutted, we can only expect rates to skyrocket – even more than they already have.

SB25 also eliminates local authority from counties and gives it to the state projects like batteries, solar, and wind.
Instead of focusing on expensive and unattainable green energy pipe-dreams, we should focus on preserving our energy from sources like natural gas, coal, and fossil fuels that keep our economy moving. Right now, we are seeing the negative effect of trying to rely on wind and solar to meet our energy demand.

Illinois electricity customers were hit with sticker shock this summer when an extended stretch of 90–100-degree heat and high humidity drove up energy demand and strained the grid…read more.

Democrats wasted time on the House Floor this week giving political speeches about the federal government. Don’t be fooled by this attempted distraction. Dem leaders are working behind closed doors to quietly pass their Green New Giveaway energy package that will hike taxes on all Illinoisans.
