Illinois State Police Hosting All-Women Recruitment Event

The Illinois State Police (ISP) is hosting its first ever all-women recruitment event at Southwestern Illinois College on July 31 to encourage women to explore career paths available both as sworn police officers and as civilian employees. This is a great opportunity to learn more about career opportunities with ISP and the benefits that come with working with the academy. This event is free and open to the public!
Those who attend learn about different divisions of ISP including: Academy and Training, Patrol, Criminal Investigation, Internal Investigation, Forensic Services, Justice Services, and Statewide 9-1-1.
Civilian opportunities are available in various areas including: forensic science, computer crimes, criminal intelligence, information technology, human resources, accounting, logistics, evidence technician, firearms eligibility analyst, and more.
ComEd Four Sentencing

As the ComEd Four receive their sentences, we are reminded of the hard work that still needs to be done to stop corruption in Illinois. House Republicans have introduced proposal after proposal to strengthen our ethics laws and end the culture of corruption that has pervaded Illinois government for decades. Democrats have continually shut down efforts to clean up the way business is done in Springfield, leading us and the public to wonder where their priorities truly lie. Illinoisans deserve a government that they know is working in their best interests. We need to hold elected officials to the highest ethical standards to rebuild the trust of our people.
Tire Event in Freeburg

I want to thank everyone who stopped by the Freeburg Recreation Park to recycle their old tires! Recycling tires is primarily aimed at environmental protection and reduces landfill waste. Plus, it allows the reuse of tire materials to create new products.
Next Stop: we will be collecting used tires at City of Cahokia Heights, IL on September 6!

“I want to thank everyone who attended my blood drive because all of you made a difference in helping to save lives,” said Schmidt. “There is such a drastic shortage in blood, and donating blood is a small gesture that leaves a big impact.”

Meeting my constituents in East St. Louis

I visited East St. Louis this week to meet with my constituents who shared their thoughts about Illinois.
As state representative, I focus on legislation to grow our economy, create safer neighborhoods, lower the cost of living, giving students the opportunity to learn and grow in their fields through my proposed ITRADE program, fixing crumbling infrastructure, and working to end food insecurity.
