The U.S. Department of Education has released its list of the 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools, and Mascoutah Elementary School was one of 18 Illinois schools to be awarded.
The annual award recognizes schools that “excel in academic performance or make significant progress in closing achievement gaps among various student groups,” as stated in a news release from the Department of Education. Schools are assessed based on student performance data, which includes assessment results, subgroup performance, and graduation rates.
The Department of Education awarded 356 schools nationally in 2024.
Illinois State Representative Kevin Schmidt congratulated the school, stating “Congratulations to all the students and staff who made this remarkable achievement possible. This honor is a testament to everyone in our community’s work to lift us all up. Congrats Mascoutah Elementary!”
