Rep. Kevin Schmidt was given a tour of Our Brother’s Keeper in East St. Louis this weekend. This group focuses on serving Southern Illinois by helping prior inmates become active employed citizens and preventing recidivism.
Rep. Schmidt met with their director, board members, volunteers, and staff to learn more about their services. They urge Illinois to be more productive with funding for prior inmates and the struggles they endure upon release. To date, Our Brother’s Keeper have already served 157 citizens.
