Springfield, IL…State Representative Kevin Schmidt, R-Cahokia Heights, issued the following statement in response to Governor JB Pritzker’s State of the State Address delivered to a joint session of the Illinois General Assembly.
“Today, we heard a lot of empty words when what we need is action,” Rep. Schmidt said. “I’m focused on meeting the needs of our local community. I will fight to attain state resources that will enhance the communities we call home. Illinois families are grappling with record inflation. That isn’t stopping Governor Pritzker from working to lock Illinois taxpayers into long-term spending commitments for new programs using short-term inflation-driven government revenue growth. This path is not sustainable and our citizens deserve better.”
Rep. Schmidt proudly serves the 114th District of Illinois, which includes portions of East St. Louis, Cahokia Heights, Centreville, Dupo, Fayetteville, Freeburg, Lebanon, Millstadt, Mascoutah, New Athens, New Baden, and Smithton.
