Today, Dr. Kevin Schmidt was inaugurated as State Representative of the 114th District. Dr. Kevin Schmidt is a lifelong conservative focused on bringing future-facing ideas to protect Illinois families and grow local jobs. As the owner and operator of Schmidt Chiropractic, Dr. Schmidt has been serving the Freeburg and Millstadt community as a chiropractor for the last 16 years.
Dr. Schmidt was born and raised in Belleville, where he attended Union K-6, then West Junior High, before graduating from Belleville West High School. He knows the struggles this area has experienced over the last few decades because he’s spent his entire life there. His dad worked for the local Illinois Department of Transportation and his mother ran an in-home day care service.
He attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and received his Doctor of Chiropractic and Bachelor of Science in Human Biology at Logan University in Chesterfield, MO.
Dr. Schmidt is passionate about being very involved in the community either by volunteering his time in local organizations or by donating money to local causes. He is the past president of the Millstadt Jaycees and Optimist Club. He is a past board member of the Millstadt Chamber of Commerce and a current member of the NRA. He is a mason and Shriner. Dr. Schmidt also goes into surrounding communities to businesses to give free lunches with educational lectures and performs free spinal screenings at local events.
Dr. Kevin Schmidt lives in Millstadt with his wife of 13 years, Laura, and their two sons, Luke and Dean. Laura runs a family business with her brother named Custom Marble in Millstadt.
Over the past several years, he implemented a cost saving, fiscally conservative, streamlined, and consolidated business plan to allow him to offer the most affordable services he could. As a one-man owner and operator, he was able to make significant cuts to business expenses so he could pass on saving to his patients. Dr. Schmidt finds every possible way to lower and maintain affordable costs that can be shared with his patients, and he will do the same in Springfield. As someone who has successfully run a fiscally conservative business, he’ll bring the same mindset of cutting costs and lowering taxes so savings can be passed onto our overtaxed Illinoisans.
Regarding his new role as State Representative of the 114th District, Rep. Schmidt said, “Today, I took the oath of office to be the State Representative for the 114th District. What happened today is so much more than merely having a title because being a state legislator means being a public servant,” Schmidt said. “I vow to listen to the residents of this district and I will be the accessible, citizen legislator the 114th District needs and deserves. I will fight for the values we share and I will stand against the corruption that has marred state government for too long. I am honored and humbled to have the opportunity to serve the people of the 114th District.”
